Minnow stage
This sections covers the progressive stages of the swim school programme. The levels have both common elements and areas that are specific to certain levels.
The suggested aquatic programme for the school aged child who cannot swim and lacks confidence in the water and includes:
- Characteristics of the general age group
- Ratios
- The aims of this stage of progression
- Approaches to class management
- The development of instructor / child relationships
- Suggestions for creating a conducive environment
- The importance of lesson planning both long and short term
- A description of the skills that are introduced at this level and the teaching strategies related to the development of these specific skills
- Correction strategies
